Overly and Olson Honored at 2018 Holiday Luncheon

Columbus Academy’s winter break began with a Holiday Luncheon gathering where the school honored 2018 Distinguished Alum Niles Overly '69 and Alumni Service Award recipient Gail Olson.

During the December 21 gathering at The Westin Columbus, Head of School Melissa Soderberg provided an overview of today's Academy followed by Alumni Board President Lauren Hilsheimer '02 presenting the school’s most prestigious awards to the honorees.

Martha Ferger '02 Inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

On December 14, Columbus Academy inducted Martha Ferger ’02 as the 40th member of its Athletic Hall of Fame.

During her time playing for Coach Anne Horton, Martha was All-Ohio in field hockey and a Team MVP for both our field hockey and lacrosse squads. She helped our Vikings win three state field hockey titles as well as a lacrosse state championship and went on to win three national titles in field hockey at Wake Forest University.

Kids 4 Kids Project

Kids 4 Kids Food & Clothing Drive

Another successful Kids 4 Kids schoolwide service learning project was completed this fall. Under the direction of Service Department Chair Christy Bening and Service Board President Caroline Mallory, the Academy community came together across all three divisions to lend a helping hand to accommodate 32 sponsored families with winter clothing and food.

Jason Singleton Named Next Athletic Director

Jason Singleton, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development at The Ohio State University, has been hired as the Director of Athletics at Columbus Academy.

Singleton will begin his new role overseeing over 60 different Academy teams on July 1, 2019. He will replace Dominic Facciolla, who is retiring this spring after a successful 20-year stint guiding our Viking athletic programs.

On November 15, we celebrated two Columbus Academy seniors who signed NCAA National Letters of Intent and have accepted athletic scholarships to compete on the collegiate level!

Jordan Skilken will dive for the University of Texas and Jacob Eismann will swim for the University of Kentucky.
