Celebration of Leadership

J.D. Vance, an investor, commentator and author of the #1 New York Times best seller “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis,” will visit Columbus Academy on November 30 as the featured speaker for the school’s annual Celebration of Leadership.

After spending time with Academy upper school students during the day, Vance will present to leadership donors in the evening at the Party Barn at the Wexner Residence.

Twelve Academy Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

A dozen Columbus Academy seniors were announced today as 2018 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.

State Teacher of the Year

Chris Bolognese, chair of Columbus Academy’s math department, has been selected as the state math teacher of the year!

New Head of Lower School

At the beginning of July, Columbus Academy welcomed Mark Hansen as its new Head of Lower School.

Hansen was hired in February 2017 after an extensive national and international search. In addition to his previous role as Primary School Principal at Copenhagen International School in Denmark, he led elementary schools in Lithuania, Germany and Wisconsin as well as Sewickley Academy, a PreK-12 independent day school near Pittsburgh.
