“Big Fish” Coming to Academy’s Stage on April 24-26

“Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions” was written by Daniel Wallace in 1998, then adapted for film by John August and Tim Burton in 2005. It was again adapted for the stage by John August and composer Andrew Lippa (who currently resides in Columbus!) in 2013. And now our upper-schoolers will perform this musical – rated PG for mild language, peril, and talk of illness and death – on April 24-26 in the Schoedinger Theatre.

Historic Hoops Season

For just the second time in the 112-year history of Columbus Academy’s basketball program, our boys reached the state championship game and finished a historic season as Division V state runners-up. Academy Choirs and Orchestra Combine for Concert

Columbus Academy students in upper school choir and orchestra performed “Postcard From Norway” for their late-winter concert. Led by orchestra director Nathan Greenwood and choir director Ryan Jenkins, these two groups performed separately before combining for a piece that transported the audience to Norway.

Currier Lecture Series Features Hanif Abdurraqib

In late February, Columbus Academy upper-schoolers were visited by renowned poet, essayist and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib, who served as the speaker for this year’s Currier Lecture Series. Hanif was joined onstage by our Director of Diversity & Community Life Dr. Pascal Losambe, who moderated a fireside chat and Q&A with students in the audience.

AquaVikes Excel at State Meet

Our AquaVikes sent 12 swimmers between the boys and girls squads to this year’s Division II state championships, resulting in 10 top-10 finishes including six in the top five. As a team, our girls placed a best-ever fourth overall with 117 points and the boys took seventh place with 91 points.
