Biography

Emily Dennett, Ph.D., began teaching upper school mathematics at Columbus Academy in 2019 and currently serves as the Mathematics Department Chair. She also teaches computer science and is the curriculum coordinator for upper school mathematics. Emily joined Academy after nine years as an instructor/assistant professor at Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, where she was an Ohio Association of Two Year Colleges (OATYC) Teacher of the Year nominee in 2015-16. Prior to COTC, Emily was a math instructor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned an M.S. in mathematics. She also holds a B.S. magna cum laude in mathematics from Wittenberg University and obtained her Ph.D. in STEM education from The Ohio State University. Emily recently completed a publication for MTCircular with fellow mathematics faculty member Chris Bolognese. In her free time, Emily likes to read, knit and solve The New York Times crossword puzzle. Emily and her husband Steven live in Gahanna and are very excited that their son Teddy '31 attends Academy.
