Patrick Blaney began teaching Spanish in the upper school as a member of the World Languages Department in 2020. He came to Academy from Charlotte, North Carolina, where he taught Spanish level 2 honors, 4 honors, and AP, as well as other courses. He also has many years of teaching experience at Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico and at Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia. Patrick earned a B.A. with honors in political science at the University of South Carolina (Coastal), before obtaining a M.A. in applied linguistics and a M.A. in Spanish from Ohio University. Patrick resides in Gahanna and consider himself a bit of a “dabbler” and his favorite activities include kayaking, black and white printmaking, leather working, amateur radio, and boardgames.
