Laura King has been a member of the Columbus Academy faculty since 2015 and began her current role teaching science in the Lower School in 2016. She also is a co-curricular team leader alongside fellow science teacher Lindy Newman. Laura previously taught Spanish in the Middle School and is involved with the super curriculum committee, report card committee, and Peck Greenhouse committee. Prior to joining Academy, Laura worked in education for a combined 15 years between time spent as director at the Primrose School at Pinnacle, elementary and middle school teacher at Natural Learning Montessori School in Dublin, mathematics, science and literature teacher at Metropolitan Montessori School in New York City, in NYC Public Schools, and as a substitute teacher at Columbus School for Girls. She was also honored as the feature speaker at a major donor reception at Metropolitan Montessori School presenting on Project Based Learning: Building Bridges. She holds an Ohio five-year professional P-3 certification with a middle grade (4-5) generalist endorsement, a Montessori credential for ages 9-12, and is USA track & field level 1 certified. Laura and her husband, Ryan, have two children: Madeline ’29 and Andrew ’30. The family also has a pet bunny named Mrs. Nibbles.

“I'm fluent in Spanish. I ran track and cross country in college. I was on Sesame Street as a child and knew Oscar the Grouch personally - I was a Grouchkateer!”
