“Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions” was written by Daniel Wallace in 1998, then adapted for film by John August and Tim Burton in 2005. It was again adapted for the stage by John August and composer Andrew Lippa (who currently resides in Columbus!) in 2013. And now our upper-schoolers will perform this musical – rated PG for mild language, peril, and talk of illness and death – on April 24-26 in the Schoedinger Theatre.
“It’s a circle of life story,” says director Whitney Eads, “a celebration of a complicated man and his indelible mark on the people he loves and how his stories live on in the people he met along his path. Despite the ‘real life’ themes, this musical is filled with magic, sparkling tap numbers, a circus, a mermaid, a giant, a witch, a werewolf, about 100,000,000 daffodils and JOY!”
Tickets are $7 each (free for current CA students & faculty/staff), and they are available for reservation online via the link above or at the door.
