Biography

John Compton joined the Columbus Academy faculty in 1994 and currently teaches history and English in the upper school. He also is head coach of the middle school golf squad and leads the Model UN team. John has previously taught middle school social studies, ran a program for new students at Academy, and coached a variety of sports on campus. Prior to coming to Academy, John taught at Heritage Hall School, The Ohio State University and COTC, and worked for State Farm Insurance. He obtained a B.A. in anthropology-sociology and English from Kenyon College and a M.A. in English from Ohio State. John and his wife, Karyn, have three children: a daughter, Amelia ’16, and two sons, Hayden ’19 and Tanner ’22.
