Biography

Gwen Nzimiro began working at Columbus Academy in 2012 and moved into the role of middle school librarian at the start of the 2023-24 school year, this after having served as our upper school librarian since 2018. She is also certified by the National SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity Program and leads our faculty and staff group. Prior to joining Academy, Gwen was the lead librarian at Worthington Libraries and worked for a combined two years as a digital imaging specialist, instruction assistant, and information commons reference assistant at Indiana University, where she earned her M.L.S. and received the Evelyn Ray Sickels Award for high potential and leadership in youth librarianship. She also spent 13 years as a graphic designer after earning a B.A. in the field from Northern Kentucky University. In addition, Gwen is certified by Indigenous Vision to facilitate Cultural Humility. Gwen and her husband, Richard, have two children a son, Quentin ’29, and a daughter, Naomi ’32, and the family has a rescue dog named Winnie. 

Little-known fact
I once thought I wanted to be an archaeologist, and worked for a short time in Mammoth Cave. It was amazing to get to experience the park and caves in a way that most tourists don't get to see.”

Favorite place to eat
“My kitchen! My hubby and I love to play around with recipes and different flavor combinations to create our own unique menus.”
