Biography

Erika Tignor began serving as a learning specialist in the Upper School at Columbus Academy at the start of the 2024-25 school year. She also coaches as our junior varsity girls soccer team. Erika brought 10 years of teaching experience to Academy, including most recently as a math teacher in Columbus City Schools. She previously taught math and was the district mathematics instructional coach for six years at Westminster Public Schools in Colorado, to go along with three years as a middle division teacher at nearby Marburn Academy and time spent as a curriculum author with Novel Ideas. Erika holds a B.A. from Muhlenburg College, M.S. in education from the University of Pennsylvania and M.A. in special education from the University of Colorado. During her time at UPenn, she was a GE Scholar. Erika has two Bernedoodles named Bear and Moosie.

"I've run 100 miles competitively more than once, I ride a motorcycle named Green Bean, and I eat ice cream for breakfast at least twice a week!"
