An Evening of Cinema and Courageous Conversation

Please join the Parents' Association of Columbus Academy and the school's MOSAIC (Mobility, Opportunity, Social Equality, Action & Impact for our Children) group for the screening of 13TH, an Oscar nominated documentary about the historical role of the 13th Amendment and the mass incarceration of African Americans.

A facilitated discussion will follow led by Dr. Mark Lomax of The Columbus Foundation.

Kayla Podgurski Wins National Dig Pink Award

During volleyball season this past fall, Columbus Academy junior Kayla Podgurski organized a successful Dig Pink® fundraiser at a home contest against Whitehall. With a matching gift from Sports Imports, Kayla's event raised over $3,000 to help beat cancer. National Merit Commended Students

A Dozen More Seniors Earn National Academic Recognition

Twelve seniors at Columbus Academy have been recognized as Commended Students in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic promise. Along with their dozen classmates previously announced as 2018 National Merit Semifinalists, these students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million high-schoolers who took the 2016 PSAT.

Darnell Heywood Leads National Council

Darnell Heywood, the director of college counseling at Columbus Academy since 2008, recently attended her first Board of Trustees meeting for the College Board in New York City.

Later this month, she will return to the Big Apple as the new chair of the Guidance and Admission Assembly Council at the College Board Forum, the preeminent annual gathering of K–12, higher education and college access professionals from all areas of expertise.
